The workshop 'Join us, create your own art' was organised by the Education Department of the museum as part of the Museum+ programme.

The workshop was planned around some practical questions:

  • how can we motivate adult museum visitors to participate in creative workshops?
  • is it “easier” for them to collaborate rather than engage in individual work?
  • is three dimensional, rather than two dimensional, work more challenging for them?
  • does colour paper provide more inspiration than plain white paper?

The goal was to produce one work of art, however participants could make individual paper sculptures and take them home if they preferred to.

The character and atmosphere of the workshop attracted new learners and enabled them to discover that they could work creatively.
