This communal drawing project focused a group of young people on observation, drawing and sculpture. The inspiration came from ancient artefacts decorated with animal designs in the museum's collection, and the changing depiction of animals by artisans over time. Led by artist in residence Imogen Harvey-Lewis, participants made studies using graphite, willow sticks and tissue paper. The result was a superb installation of 3-D animal sculptures displayed in the museum for all to engage with, touch and admire. The students learned how to handle new drawing media, explored the past and created an exciting exhibition.
