NADFAS 40th Anniversary Award Winner 2008

Stanford Hall, a privately-owned stately home, opened its doors to 33 Year 10 and 6th form students from Lutterworth College. They spent an inspiring day with artists and teachers:

  • exploring the hall through drawing
  • translating their images into 3-D models; and
  • filming

The venue’s drama and the freedom to roam motivated participants, eager to take on unusual challenges. They experimented with new ideas and techniques stimulated by these grand surroundings: observational and interpretive drawing, collage, model-making, character and script development, storyboarding, set design, directing, camera work and filming.

These activities developed the group’s ingenuity and reflection, and collaboration made them supportive of each other.

A second day at the college with the artists helped the students develop their ideas and skills in using stop-motion animation, digital editing programmes, Photoshop CS2 and I-Movie to record their narration.

The final DVD was screened at the college.
